The Markets are a private market that allows people to source funding and or invest. We focus no the independent art and media space. The traditional middle class was made up by small business owners. The modern reality is that small businesses are dying. On the flip side independent media industries and the arts are on a rise. Their creators are the inheritors to the middle class. The Markets acts as a platform for growth and funding for the new middle class through large scale micro investments

Creators can sell portions of their creative enterprises to investors. As a result sourcing funds become relent on the economic laws of supply and demand, rather than patron generosity. Given the option, investors who would give five dollars a month out of support, would rather pay 15 dollars for guarantied commodity, that could bring them income in return. In this way the creator can fund projects and give value to their creative endeavours. In short, through The Markets funding becomes more stable, and your creation can be treated in all ways as a corporation.

We are approaching the end of capitalism. Capitalism requires constant growth and there are no infinite resources to keep our current system a float. Except one: human imagination. Our ability to create is infinite, and as a resource is used to create art, in all its forms, ranging from: film, jewelry, music, video games, literature and fashion. All are manifestations of creativity. The ability to invest into independent art and media business, and receive both dividends and a stock that can be sold are wholly unique to The Markets.

The Markets offer a platform, so that this new form of funding the arts is simple and accessible to all. It is a platform dedicated to financial growth, legitimacy through collective ownership and the growth of the arts and culture. The Markets, offer to create and sell, “stocks” called Actions that represent a certain percentage of a Projects profits. Investors who have bought these actions can collect their percentage of profits or sell the Actions on the market for further profits.

As it stands now, The Markets are a physical business, who will host Market Days, where Investors and Creators meet and do business face to face. Our goal is to move this to first an online space, then to expand to the US, then internationally.
